When channels sell the same room in different ways (like packages or corporate rates), you can map all these versions to a single rate in your Channel Manager to simplify your rate management.
When to use multi-mapping
You can map multiple channel rates to one rate in your Channel Manager only when they refer to the same physical room type, when a channel sells different versions of the same room rate.
➕ For example, with Expedia, you might have one "Standard double room" rate in your Channel Manager, but Expedia sells this room in different ways:
Standard double room - SellRate - Hotel Collect
Standard double room - Package - Expedia Collect
Standard double room - Linked - Expedia Collect
Standard double room - Derived - Expedia Collect
You don't need to create new room rates for each of these in your Channel Manager, instead, map all these rates to your single "Standard double room" rate.
When to map rates individually
⚠️ Important: Do not map multiple channel rates to one Channel Manager rate if they represent different physical room types.
Incorrect multi-mapping can lead to overbookings, wrong pricing, and missing extras. You should map rates individually if they have:
Different room types: Never map a single room (e.g. "Double Room") to two different channel room types (e.g. "Double Room" AND "Twin Room"). The channel will assume you have double the inventory, causing overbookings
Different inclusions: Such as one rate including breakfast and another without
Different pricing structures: If the rates require different base prices.
Different availability requirements

💡 For rates mapped to the same Channel Manager rate, ensure the pricing setup is Derived and set to Keep rates the same, as different prices or restrictions under the same rate can cause sync issues.
