Why should I integrate Google Analytics 4 with my booking engine?

You can integrate Google Analytics 4 with your booking engine, as Google Analytics 4 can improve the tracking and reporting of your property's booking engine — from your traffic, funnels and conversion rates, to the return on investment (ROI) in marketing.

Do I need to have a Google Analytics 4 account to integrate it with my booking engine?

Yes, you need to have a Google Analytics 4 account to integrate it with your booking engine.

How does Google Analytics 4 work with my booking engine?

Your booking engine supports source attribution modelling, which works with your Google Analytics 4 integration. This helps you to identify your property’s most successful marketing campaigns and special offers, and review your strategies.

With cross-domain tracking enabled, Google Analytics 4 can also track your booking engine’s visitors across single continuous sessions on two or more related websites — ensuring your purchases are attributed to an original source (Google Search, Facebook, etc.) rather than a payment processor’s website.

For example:

If a customer visits your booking engine and attempts to process a payment, they may be redirected to a payment processor’s website — which is hosted on another domain — to enter their credit card details and complete their payment before being redirected back to your website. So if cross-domain tracking is implemented between your booking engine and the payment processor’s website, the original source will be attributed, improving the accuracy of your data.

Will my reservations automatically sync with Google Analytics 4?

No, your reservations will not automatically sync with Google Analytics 4.

Will my past reservations show in my Google Analytics 4 data?

No, Google Analytics 4 only shows data from the date that your property connects to it, so you will not see any reservation data from any date prior to integration.

It is recommended that you should view your reservation data in our platform and channel extranets, as opposed to using Google Analytics 4.

Google Analytics 4 should be used to review what guests are doing on your website.

My guests have made a reservation via the booking engine. Why is it not showing in Google Analytics 4?

If you have a reservation that is not showing in Google Analytics 4, it could be due to the following:

  • When you embed a booking engine in your website, your guests need to accept the relevant cookies, or Google Analytics 4 will not record the reservation data.

  • If your guest has poor connection when they are redirected to the confirmation page, the reservation may not be marked as completed, and will not be sent to Google Analytics 4.
