Overview of security codes
Updated over a week ago

To ensure a higher level of security, access to sensitive information in Little Hotelier is limited to Supervisors and will require entering a security code for authentication. The security code will be sent by Little Hotelier to your registered user account email address.

What is a Security Code?

A security code is a unique single-use password, sent to your email address, to provide added security when accessing sensitive information the in Little Hotelier Front Desk.
Supervisors will be prompted to enter a security code when trying to access sensitive information, such as viewing and editing credit card details within a reservation.

Receiving the Security Code

When you attempt to access a secure area, you will be prompted to enter a security code.

  1. Click on the button to access a secure area in Little Hotelier
( View or Edit button to access payment card information)
An email containing a security code will be sent automatically to your user account email address
You may need to refresh your email application to receive new emails

  2. From your email, copy or note down the provided Security Code

  3. Return to the Little Hotelier Security Access Required window

  4. Enter Security code

  5. Click on Confirm

Note : If you're unable to receive the security code email, see below to learn about simple troubleshooting steps to solve the problem.

When does a Security code expire?

A security code remains valid for 15 minutes from creation. Little Hotelier will not send you a new code for as long as it is within the 15-minute interval, even if you close the Security Access Required window and re- open it.

Once authenticated, you will not be prompted to authenticate again for other sensitive areas unless you log out, or you are inactive in Little Hotelier for 15 minutes. Little Hotelier will inform you if the code has expired. You will have to generate a new security code again.

Note : Once you have keyed in your security code and it has been accepted on the Little Hotelier screen, please delete the email immediately to avoid confusion in the future.

What if you did not ask for a security code?

If you have received a security code, without having asked for one in the Little Hotelier Front Desk, please check if someone else has access to the Front Desk with your login and has requested the security code.

Without the security code, even as a Supervisor user, no user has access to the sensitive information in Little Hotelier.

Trouble receiving the security code emails

If you don't receive this email in your mail client, there can be several reasons behind it, which include - but are not limited to - temporary mail server problems, or your mail program identifying your Little Hotelier Front Desk Security Code email as "Junk".

The steps below can assist you in trying to solve the problem:

  • Try logging out and back in to the Little Hotelier Front Desk

  • Manually send/receive emails in your mail program

  • Click "Receive now", "Send and Receive", "Get mail", or press F5 or F9. Check your mail program for more information

  • Check the Junk/Spam folder

  • To avoid receiving security code email as junk, make sure to add noreply@littlehotelier.com and noreply@apac.littlehotelier.com to the Safe Recipients List or Safe Senders List. The Safe Recipient List and Safe Senders List are handy ways to help mail programs identify that a message is not junk. Visit this Outlook page for more information

If you still cannot receive security code emails, please contact the Support Team who will be able to request for mail logs to find out why your mail provider may be rejecting these emails.
