What is mapping?

Channel mapping connects a rate from your Front Desk to a corresponding rate on your online booking channel (e.g.; Booking.com). This allows you to manage everything centrally from your Front Desk, eliminating the need to manually update rates on each channel.

How does it work?

Mapping connects your rates between your Front Desk and online booking channels. You’ll need to create matching rates in both places, then map and enable in Channel Manager so that any updates (rates, availability or restrictions) will be automatically sent to the channel. When a reservation is made through your online booking channel, it will be sent to your Front Desk where you can manage all reservations centrally in the Calendar.

Notes:

  • If you disable a channel, reservations won’t be sent to your Front Desk

  • Monitor your property and channel status in the Dashboard

  • Enable email notifications in Channel Manager to be alerted if a channel becomes disabled. Manage these settings in My account > E-mail notifications.

  • Delete unused rates on your online channels to avoid confusion as these can’t be managed from your Front Desk

Why is it important?

  • Accurate mapping ensures reservations are processed correctly with the right room type and rate plan

  • Unmapped rates can lead to errors and prevent automatic inventory updates

How do I know if I have mapped all of my rates?

  1. Go to My apps > Channel Manager > Channels

  2. Click on the channel name you want to check > Configure

  3. At the top right hand side of your screen, you will see the number of rates mapped next to the refresh symbol

This displays your current mapped channel rates vs your total rates on the channel extranet, all channel rates should be mapped so both values match.

What updates are sent to the channel?

After you’ve mapped and enabled the channel, the values set on the inventory grid will be automatically sent to that channel.

Note:

  • Some channels might block specific updates, these updates will need to be managed directly on the channel extranet.

I’ve finished mapping, what do I do next?

Step one: Check your rate configuration after mapping, including applying overrides or using derivation settings. If you’re using multi-mapped rates, ensure they’re all Derived and set to Keep rates the same.

Step two: Apply rates and restrictions for your mapped channels.

  1. Go to My apps > Front Desk > Inventory

  2. Update rates or set restrictions for your inventory (update manually or using the Bulk Update tool)

Step three: Once you've mapped and checked your rates, you can now enable the channel.

  1. Go to My apps > Channel Manager > Channels

  2. Click on the channel name

  3. Go to the Channel Settings tab

  4. Select status Enabled > Save
