Generate a statistics report in Little Hotelier to view and analyse your property's data.

Updated over 5 months ago

Little Hotelier makes it easy to run a statistics report without having to spend a lot of time on calculations.

This report shows key performance indicators (KPIs), including your occupancy rate, average daily rate, and relevant revenue information for any date range selected.

How do I run a statistics report?

  1. Go to Front Desk > Reports

  2. Click on Statistics

  3. Select the date type for the report by clicking on Search by
Stay date: date range your guests stayed at your property
Booked on: date range your guests booked their reservations

  4. Enter a date range: select a Date from and a Date to

  5. Leave the Revenue includes tax option unticked if you wish to exclude tax in the report. If you tick this option, the tax from any taxable service charge will be included in the calculation.

  6. Click on Run report

⚠️ Unallocated reservations showing on the Calendar will not be counted towards any room night report item or average occupancy but will count towards the other report items (like those related to revenue).

How do I export a statistics report?

How are the statistics report items calculated?

Here is a list of the items you will see after running this report and an explanation on how they are calculated.

Total room nights: total number of rooms multiplied by the number of selected nights. It shows the total capacity your property has for the selected date range without counting any room closures or reservations that are already booked during this date range. This is only available when Stay date is selected under Search by.

Calculation: number of rooms x number of days.

➕Example:

  • Let’s say you run the report from the 1st to the 7th of the month.

  • Your property has 10 rooms in total.

  • You have 5 rooms already booked for these dates and a room closure for 2 nights.

  • Your total room nights will be 10 x 7 = 70 (without counting any room closures or existing reservations).

Closed room nights: number of nights with a room closure. This is only available when Stay date is selected under Search by.

Occupied room nights: total number of room nights that are sold/occupied within the selected date range. This gives you an idea of your property’s real availability for the selected days. This is only available when Stay date is selected under Search by.

➕ Example:

  • You have five reservations. The check-in and check-out dates for all of them are within the searched date range (from the 1st to the 7th).

  • All five reservations are booked for three nights, so there are a total of 15 nights booked for the selected date range. Your occupied room nights would be 15.

  • If the report is based on the Stay date , it will include the number of occupied room nights that fall within the chosen date range.

  • If based on the Booked-on date , it will include the number of room nights that were booked during the chosen date range.

Unoccupied room nights: number of nights with no reservations and with no closures.

Calculation: total room nights - (closed room nights + occupied room nights)

➕ Example:

  • Your total room nights is 70, you have 2 room nights with a closure, and 15 occupied room nights.

  • Your unoccupied room nights will be 70 - (2+15) = 53 unoccupied room nights.

Occupancy: percentage of available rooms occupied for the specified period. This is only available when Stay date is selected under Search by.

Calculation: occupied room nights ÷ total available room nights. Total available room nights = total room nights (number of rooms x number of days) - closed room nights (number of nights with a room closure).

➕ Example:

  • You have 15 occupied room nights, a total of 70 room nights, and 2 room nights with a room closure.

  • Your occupancy rate will be 15 ÷ (70-2) = 22%, which means your property still has 78% of available capacity for the selected date range.

Length of stay (LoS): average length of time that your guests stay at your property for the selected date range.

Calculation: total length of stay ÷ total number of bookings.

  • If a report is based on the Stay date, it calculates the average length of stay of all reservations that have at least a one night stay that falls within the chosen date range.

  • If a report is based on the Booked-on date, it calculates the average length of stay of all reservations booked during the specified date range.

Lead time: on average, how many days in advance your rooms are booked before the check-in date.

Calculation: total lead time ÷ total number of bookings.

  • If a report is based on the Stay date, it averages the number of days between the booking date and the check-in date for all the reservations that have at least a one night stay within the chosen date range.

  • If the report is based on the Booked-on date , it averages the number of days between the booking date and the check-in date for all the reservations made during the specified date range.

Average revenue per booking: average revenue generated per booking.

Calculation: total revenue ÷ total number of bookings.

Average daily rate (ADR): average revenue earned for an occupied room per day.

Calculation: rooms revenue ÷ number of rooms sold (or occupied).

  • The number of rooms sold will be in the formula if you searched by Booked on.

  • The number of rooms occupied will be in the formula if you searched by Stay date.

Revenue per available room (RevPAR): daily room revenue generated per available room. RevPAR measures your property’s ability to fill its available rooms at the average rate. This is only available when Stay date is selected under Search by.

Calculation: ADR ÷ total available rooms. Total available rooms = total rooms - closed rooms.

Cancelled reservations: total value of all cancelled reservations during the selected period.
