Set a minimum rate for all your rooms

Updated over a week ago

You can set a minimum rate for all your rooms. This is optional, but once set, it prevents users from listing rooms below that value.

Here’s how it works:

  • If the minimum rate is set at 250, this means users cannot set a room rate for less than 250.

  • Any discounts managed through Channel Manager cannot lower the pricing below the minimum rate.

Example:

  • Your property has a minimum rate of 90.

  • You have two room rates Refundable and Non-Refundable.

  • The Non Refundable rate is 20% cheaper than the Refundable.

  • On a specific date, Refundable is 100.

  • On that same date the Non Refundable should be 80. However, the minimum rate is 90, so the Non-Refundable will be set to 90 instead.

Note: Discounts or promotions set directly on booking channels will override the minimum rate.

How to set up or edit a minimum rate

In Channel Manager

  1. My apps > Channel Manager

  2. Click on your Property Name > Property settings

  3. On the General tab, enter a Minimum Rate in the field

  4. Click Save

Notes:

  • The value displayed will be in your local currency. If you have enabled currency conversion, the value displayed will be in your base currency.

  • Rates in your Inventory should not be below the minimum rate.

In Front Desk

  1. My Apps > Front Desk > Setup

  2. Click on Property details

  3. Update the Minimum room rate field

  4. Click Save

Troubleshooting

Can't save minimum rate with error: "Cannot be greater than any existing room rates"

This error occurs if your Inventory contains prices lower than the new Minimum room rate you are trying to set. To resolve this, you must update your daily rates for the next 729 days before changing the minimum rate.

Rate showing below minimum rate on a channel

If a discount or promotion has been applied directly on a booking channel (e.g., Booking.com, Expedia), it can override the minimum rate. This happens because Channel Manager does not control discounts set within the channel's own platform.

To resolve this, check for any active promotions or discounts configured directly in your booking channel's extranet.
