A key advantage of online distribution is the ability to attract guests from all over the world.

To facilitate this, Channel Manager has built-in currency conversion capabilities.


Why do you need currency conversion?

As you expand your hotel's global reach, you may find that some online channels do not support your hotel's local currency.


How does it work?

To perform currency conversions, the Channel Manager relies on three key pieces of information:

  • Property's base currency setting defines the currency used in the channel manager's inventory grid where daily pricing is set for a hotel's room rates.

  • the channel currency conversion setting defines the currency to be sent to an online channel

  • international currency exchange rates - channel manager gathers currency exchange data from XE.com twice per day and uses this data to calculate each currency conversion.


Things to remember

It's important to be cautious when adjusting your currency conversion settings. Mistakenly choosing the wrong base currency or channel currency conversion could have a disastrous impact on your advertised pricing.

To avoid any potential currency conversion issues:

  • Please check that your base currency is set correctly

  • Only enable currency conversion in your HOTEL SETTINGS if you need to set up currency conversion

  • Ensure any channels that require currency conversion have their settings correctly configured

  • If you make any changes to currency settings, check your online channels to ensure they are displaying correct rate information. Please note: it can take several minutes for channels to display updates.


Set up currency conversion on property level

To enable currency conversion on property level:

  1. In the upper right of the screen, click on the hotel menu (your hotel name)

  2. Select HOTEL SETTINGS

  3. To the right of Currency Conversion click the cog icon

  4. Click Enable


Set up currency conversion on the channel level

Please note: You must enable currency conversion in your HOTEL SETTINGS first before you can set up currency conversion on a channel.

To set up currency conversion on the channel level:

  1. Click CHANNELS tab

  2. Select channel you want to edit

  3. To the right of Currency Conversion click the cog icon

  4. Edit the settings as required:

    • Select Enabled to enable currency conversion

    • From the Currency drop-down select the currency you want the rates converted to

  5. Click Convert Currency

Your rates will now be converted to the selected currency before being sent to the channel.
