About currency conversion

As you expand your reach to more travellers, you may find that some online channels do not support your property's local currency. You can use the channel manager’s currency conversion settings for specific channels, so prices are sent to those channels in the currency they use.

Currency exchange rates are taken from XE.com twice a day to calculate each currency conversion.

Check currency conversion settings

Ensure your currency conversion settings are correct. Choosing the wrong base currency or channel currency conversion can negatively affect your advertised pricing.
To avoid any potential currency conversion issues, make sure you:

  • Check that your base currency is correct, and that staff who use the channel manager are using the base currency.

  • Check that the relevant channels have their currency conversion settings correctly configured.

Note:

  • Currency conversion is only applied to the rates set in the inventory grid. Currency conversion will not apply to extra charges configured in the channel rate’s settings (i.e. extra person charges and discounts). These extra charges need to be set in the currency being sent to the channel, as currency conversion will not apply to them.

  • If you make any changes to currency settings, check your online channels to ensure they are displaying correct rate information. It may take several minutes for channels to display updates.

Set up currency conversion for your property

To enable currency conversion for your property:

  1. Click on your property name.

  2. Select Property settings.

  3. Next to Currency Conversion, click the cog icon.

  4. Click Enable.

You will now be able to set up currency conversion on your channels.

Set up currency conversion for your connected booking channel

You must enable currency conversion in Property settings before you can set up currency conversion on a channel.

To set up currency conversion on a specific channel:

  1. Click the CHANNELS tab.

  2. Select the channel you want to edit.

  3. Next to Currency Conversion, click the cog icon.

  4. Select Enabled to enable currency conversion.

  5. From the Currency drop-down, select the currency you want the rates converted to.

  6. Click Convert Currency.

Your rates will now be converted to the selected currency before being sent to the channel.
