Inventory updates supported by Expedia

Expedia supports the following inventory updates:

  • Rates (those shown on the Inventory grid).

  • Extra guest rate (the extra adult rate in your SiteMinder platform) — only supported when using occupancy-based pricing. If using per-day pricing, you need to set the extra person charges directly via Expedia.

  • Single guest discount — only supported when using occupancy-based pricing.

  • Availability

  • Restrictions: (Minimum stay, Maximum stay, Stop sell, CTA; closed to arrival, and CTD; closed to departure).

💡 Expedia has a maximum inventory update period of 730 days.

Connect to Expedia

You need to set up an account with Expedia before connecting the channel in your Channel Manager. Create an account here.

First connect “SiteMinder RDX” In Expedia’s extranet. Take note of your Expedia Hotel ID (also known as hotel code, property code or Expedia ID).

To connect Expedia in your Channel Manager, follow these steps

  1. Go to Channels.

  2. Click Connect New Channel in the upper-right of the Channel Manager and select Expedia.

  3. Complete the steps in the channel connection wizard.

After connecting Expedia, the channel status will show "Awaiting setup". Please allow 24 hours for the connection to be enabled. You will receive an e-mail notification when the channel is enabled and ready to be mapped.

Before mapping to Expedia, create your room types and rate plans in Expedia’s extranet. Set up settings such as room type details, occupancy settings, and extra person charges.

To check and set Expedia's channel settings, go to Channels > Expedia > Channel settings tab.

  • Reservation e-mail address — reservation confirmation and update e-mails will be sent to this address.

  • Rate multiplier — at channel level for all room rates, or channel rate level for specific channel rates only.

  • Currency conversion

  • Reservation commission percentage — reservation commission will be added on top of the total reservation amount. (This will affect the reservation totals sent to your PMS for net rates).

Enable Expedia

Once mapping is complete, check your inventory is showing correctly for Expedia on your Inventory grid.

Then, enable Expedia in Channel settings.
