How to set up additional languages and add custom translations for Guest Engagement.

Updated today

Make your guest communications more welcoming by offering content in multiple languages. With Guest Engagement, you can personalise your guest communications by adding custom translations for e-mails, surveys, check-in forms, and more.

Set up additional languages

Before adding custom translations in Guest Engagement, you'll need to enable the languages you want to use. This lets you create a more personalised experience for your international guests.

To add languages:

  1. Go to Guest Engagement > Settings > General.

  2. Click Language and region.

  3. Under Additional languages, select the languages you want to use.

  4. Click Save.

Guest Engagement detects your guest's preferred language through:

  • Reservation details

  • Browser language settings

  • E-mail provider settings

Guests can also manually select their language in the Concierge. Their choice will override all other settings.

Set your default language

The default language displays when a guest's preferred language isn't available in Guest Engagement. To set your default language:

  1. Go to Guest Engagement > Settings > General.

  2. Click Language and region.

  3. Under Default language, select your preferred language.

  4. Click Save.

Check your guests' languages

Understanding which languages your guests use can help you decide which translations to add in Guest Engagement. To view guest language data:

  1. Go to Guest Engagement > Guests > Guest list.

  2. Use the filters to find specific reservations.

  3. Look at the Language column to see each guest's preferred language.

  4. Click Export to download the data for analysis.

Add custom translations

Create a more welcoming experience by adding translations for guest communications in Guest Engagement. You can add translations for:

  • Guest e-mail communications, including subject lines and message content

  • Guest service offerings in Concierge, including upgrades, additional services, and property directions

  • Digital check-in form content, including questions and welcome messages

  • Property information cards with details about facilities, services, and local area guides

  • Guest feedback forms, including survey questions and thank you messages

💡 Important to know:

  • You'll need to provide your own translations for the content.

  • If you enable a language but haven't added translations, the content will show in your default language instead.

  • Translations help create a seamless guest experience from pre-arrival through to check-out.
