Add languages and translations

Default extranet language

Set the default language you want to view your Direct Booking extranet in (not what guests will see):

  1. Go to My apps > Direct Booking > Setup

  2. Click on the Property tile

  3. Select the Languages tab

  4. Under Default Extranet Language, select a language from the drop-down list

  5. Click Save


What language will guests see when they visit your booking engine?

Your booking engine will automatically detect a guest's browser language and display the site in that language by default. If the browser language hasn't been added and published in your translations settings, the booking engine will fall back to your property's default language.

Guests can also select their preferred language using the language switcher on your booking engine. They'll receive their booking confirmation email in the chosen language, so make sure translations are available.

How to set the default language for your booking engine

To set the default language for your booking engine:

  1. Go to My apps > Direct Booking > Setup

  2. Click on the Property tile

  3. Select the Languages tab

  4. Under Default Booking Engine Language, select a language from the drop-down list

  5. Click Save

Available translations

Enable translations for generic items such as buttons, calendar navigation and property features in your booking engine.

To set up available translations:

  1. Go to My apps > Direct Booking > Setup

  2. Click on the Property tile

  3. Select the Languages tab

  4. Select the languages you want to make available in the Available translations section

  5. Click Save

Guests will now be able to select from a list of languages in the top right corner of the booking page.

Add custom translations

To provide a more user-friendly booking experience for international guests, add your own translations for your property description, room descriptions and policies. Before adding translations, make sure you have set up your default booking engine language and available translations.

To add custom translations:

  1. Go to My apps > Direct Booking > Setup

  2. Navigate to the following places:
    Property > General
    Property > Policies
    Rooms & Rates > click Edit on a room type
    Extras
    Cancellations

  3. Click Choose language in the top right hand corner

  4. Enter your translated text and click Save

  5. Repeat steps 3-5 for each section you want to translate

Translated text will appear in your booking engine when guests select their preferred language.
