What is the Tourism Observatory?
The Tourism Observatory is a data management system used in Italy for reporting tourist statistics, particularly guest information. It is used by accommodation providers — such as hotels and rental properties—to submit statistical data about their guests. The system helps authorities monitor tourism trends and ensure public safety.
Who needs to submit their data?
All accommodation managers in the Sicily region — including hotels, guesthouses, apartments, and other lodging facilities—are required to send guest statistics to the Observatory portal. This requirement is mandated by regional tourism regulations to ensure accurate monitoring and compliance with local laws.
Accommodation providers must regularly report the following data:
Guest names and dates of birth
Arrival and departure dates
Nationality
Type of accommodation
How to request your credentials
Contact the Region of Sicily to request a PMS USER account in order to obtain your credentials.
To confirm that the region has completed the update, check the Profile Type (TIPO PROFILO) section in the portal. You should see "utente pms" instead of "utente struttura recettiva".
Connect Istata Sicilia Tourism in Guest Engagement
Follow the steps below:
Go to Guest Engagement > Check-in > Settings.
Click on the arrow next to Compliance check-in form.
Under your property name, click on the Statistics connection tab.
Enable the Statistics connection toggle and select Sicilia – Osservatorio Turistico from the drop-down in the Region field.
Enter your Username, Password and Hotel code.
Click Validate then Save Changes.
How to fill in the Hotel code field
If you have only one property in your Tourism Observatory account, the Hotel Code usually matches your Username.
If you have multiple properties registered under the same account, you can find each property’s Hotel Code in the “Codice Identificativo” section of the Tourism Observatory portal.
Note: Both the Username and Hotel code of a PMS User profile typically begin with: TRS-IT-SIC.
Example: TRS-IT-SIC-12345.
If your Username does not start with these letters, you likely do not yet have the correct information needed to connect to the Tourism Observatory and automate data submission.
Remember to validate the credentials and save the page once completed.
