Stop sells vs Close Channels: what's the difference?
Close all channels: use the Close Channels setting in Front Desk > Inventory. This will prevent bookings from any connected channels. If you don't see the "Close channels" option, stop selling that rate plan by applying a stop sell for the relevant dates and rooms directly in Channel Manager.
Close specific channels: use Stop Sells in Channel Manager. This allows you to close individual channels while keeping others open. To apply a stop sell to a specific channel, go to My Apps > Channel Manager > Inventory > Bulk Update
⚠️ Stop Sells in Channel Manager won't work if Close Channels is enabled in Front Desk > Inventory. You can only use one method at a time. To remove this setting from Front Desk, please contact our support team.
Create a stop sell
Apply a stop sell to block or close out dates on a specific channel while keeping other channels open.
To apply a stop sell to a specific channel (not all channels):
Go to My Apps > Channel Manager
Click on the Inventory tab
Click on the blue Channels button next to the rate > find the channel rate
Choose Stop Sell from the drop-down list
Select your dates using the checkbox. Uncheck boxes to remove stop sells.
Click Save in the top right corner
The stop sell will be applied
Remove a stop sell
Removing a stop sell reopens the rate and makes it available for booking again on the selected channel and dates.
To remove a stop sell from a specific channel:
Go to My Apps > Channel Manager
Click on the Inventory tab
Click on the blue Channels button next to the rate > find the channel rate
Choose Stop Sell from the drop-down list
Uncheck the dates you want to reopen
Click Save in the top right corner
The stop sell will be removed and the rate reopened
Add or remove stop sells across multiple dates or channels
For longer periods or multiple rooms and channels, use the Bulk Update tool to apply or remove stop sells:
Go to My Apps > Channel Manager
Click on the Inventory tab > Bulk Update
Choose Stop Sell and select On to apply or Off to remove existing stop sells
Set the From Date and To Date, choose specific days or add another date range
Select the rates and channels you want to update
Click Save
Why are my rooms blocked or not available?
If a room or room type is not available for booking, dates can be blocked in two different ways, and they are reopened in different places. Before reopening, check which one applies:
A room closure reduces the availability sent to the channels for the closed room type. It does not apply a stop sell. A Room Closure is shown in red on the Calendar tab.
A stop sell blocks a rate on a channel in Channel Manager. It appears with an orange background in the Inventory grid. Removing a stop sell reopens the rate for booking.
To find out why a room is not available and reopen blocked dates, check both:
Room closures in My Apps > Front Desk > Calendar. Reopen a room closure here
Stop sells in My Apps > Channel Manager > Inventory. Remove a stop sell here.
Identify which rates have stop sells applied
In the Channel Manager Inventory grid:
Orange background: rates with a stop sell on all connected channels will appear with an orange background in the Inventory grid
Light orange background: rates applied with a stop sell on some, but not all channels will appear with a lighter orange background
Channels: click the blue Channels button next to a rate and select Stop Sell from the drop-down list to see which specific channels have stop sells applied for that date
