Manage unallocated reservations through your Little Hotelier mobile app
Updated over a year ago

This article explains what unallocated reservations are, as well as how to locate and manage them through your Little Hotelier mobile app.

What is an unallocated reservation?

An unallocated reservation is a reservation with no room assigned to it in your Calendar.

A reservation can be listed as Unallocated due to various reasons:

  • For reservations created by a Little Hotelier user through the Calendar or Reservation pages — although Little Hotelier raises a warning when no rooms are available, a user may have simply overlooked it and/or forgotten to select a room when generating the booking., Before generating a reservation, we recommend confirming that one or more rooms are available — this will help prevent overbookings, as unallocated reservations decrease a room type’s availability.

  • For reservations booked by guests (via your direct booking engine or channels, for example) — there may be no rooms available for a room type, possibly because:

    1. the room type does not have a single room that is available for all of a reservation’s stay dates, but it does have separate rooms available across those dates — for instance, you do not have a room available for 1–3 January, but you do have three rooms available separately, with one available on 1 January, another on 2 January, and the other on 3 January, meaning you just need to rearrange your existing bookings to accommodate the reservation (and prevent an overbooking);

    2. a room closure was applied to the room at the same time its reservation was booked;

    3. the room type is fully booked, in which case you may need to check if it has been overbooked; if it has and you do not know why, please contact our support team.

Assign a room to an unallocated reservation through your Little Hotelier app

  1. Find an unallocated reservation using one of the following methods:

    • Calendar — tap on the Unallocated button to go to the Unallocated reservations page, which includes a list of all unallocated reservations within the 6-day range viewed in the Calendar.

    • Reservations — use the Unallocated filter to search for unallocated reservations during the selected dates. (The filter will not be visible if none exist during those dates.)

  2. Tap on a reservation’s Assign room button, then select a room using one of the following two options:

    • Available for entire stay — the available room(s) associated with the same room type that has been booked for the reservation. (If you allocate a room from this list, the booking will not send a modification e-mail to the guest, making it the ideal option.)

    • Other room types available — the available room(s) associated with different room types from the one booked for the reservation. (Each room type’s name is listed alongside its price difference, if any — if choosing this option, we recommend sharing these details with your guest prior to their arrival.)

  3. Once you have chosen a room, click on its Assign button.
